About the VFW Auxiliary

The VFW Auxiliary is established by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.  We are a fraternal, patriotic, historical and educational entity.  We exist to assist our VFW Post, its members, all veterans, their families, our military and our communities.

Previously known as the Ladies Auxiliary VFW, we were founded in 1914.  Our name and membership eligibility changed in July 2015.  Please see the Membership section to determine if you are eligible to apply to this organization of both male and female family members of veterans who belong (or are/were eligible to belong) to VFW.  We welcome all eligible members.

VETERANS OF FOREIGN AUXILIARY TO POST NO. 5074

Who are we?  What do we do?

We are the nation’s oldest veterans’ service auxiliary with 450,000+ members in the USA. We are the relatives of those who served in overseas combat.   Our membership includes males and females who support our objectives.

Our local auxiliary has 120+ members dedicated to America’s veterans, their families, our current military & our community.

What work or service do we provide?

Our primary programs are Americanism, Hospital, Legislative, Scholarship, Veterans & Family Support & Youth Activities.  You can read more about these programs on this website.

We participate in community activities supporting such programs as the Roanoke Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Roanoke Senior Center, Celebrate Roanoke Day, Trophy Club Day of Prayer & local blood drives.

Ceremonies for patriotic holidays such as Memorial Day, POW/MIA (Prisoners of War/Missing in Action) and Veterans Day are vital parts of our program year.

Much more – We are an active, alive team who stand as family in the cause we support.  Cash donations each year including our Christmas in July Benefit for Children & individual events to assist veterans or vet families in distress usually exceed $15,000 a year. Donations of time, personal gifts & service = amazing!
